Handcrafted Back Patio Wedding Flooded with Sunshine
The beauty of today’s featured wedding is in its understated elegance and simplicity. The gorgeous event took place at the couple’s Ventura residence and the ceremony was held right in their backyard with an unbeatable view of the Pacific in the background. You wouldn’t know from the pristine images and intricate details from the day, but the wedding was close to 100% DIY and the talented bride did almost everything herself from the floral designs to the decor.
Chris J. Evans photographed the entire February afternoon and evening starting with the arrival of guests and the bride and groom’s first look. At the ceremony, friends and family sat on wooden benches as the father of the bride escorted her down the aisle in a polished v-neck silk wedding dress. The couple chose to forgo a traditional wedding party in the intimate space but were surrounded by flower pots filled with lush white and blush blooms as they recited their personal and heartfelt vows.
Afterwards, the party enjoyed cocktail hour featuring margaritas, Mezcalitas, and Old Fashioned drinks which were served in fun pink and orange-tinted glasses. The couple also took advantage of the setting sun on the beach during this time. The groom, as a director of photography, even got behind the camera to snap a few shots of his bride. In honor of the couple’s tradition of grabbing street tacos after long days of surfing, tacos were served for dinner followed by a classic white wedding cake and a table of other sweet desserts.
