Cozy, Flower Child Wedding at a Private Ojai Winery
Megan and Peter’s vision for their big day was a casual, yet modern summer wedding which incorporated earthy, boho elements into a setting already teeming with natural beauty. Fran Steiner, owner of Events by Fran event and wedding planning company, took this concept and ran with it, helping to create a day which flowed easily from one event to the next and kept the focus on the couple along with people they cherish most.
As for the venue, the family’s private winery and barn home in Ojai was chosen. The location proved to be extremely versatile with a spacious spot laid out for the ceremony, but also a reception space which was tucked away and intimate for the couple and their 100 guests. As people walked onto the property, they were met with a wooden welcome sign, glass mugs personalized for each attendee, and a trailer hung with sweet pictures of the couple. The bride fully embraced the flower child look in a stunning two-piece bohemian wedding dress paired with a flower crown of blues and yellows designed by the couple’s friend Shiela Morales. Shiela additionally created the bridal bouquet, ceremony arch florals, and simple reception table centerpieces following the same color scheme. The groom was effortlessly handsome in blue slacks and a white button down with no tie.
At the ceremony, both of the bride’s parents walked her up to the altar to meet her future husband. The pair wanted their ceremony to face the beautiful pink mountains of Ojai—a decision which proved to be well worth it based on the photographs taken by wedding photographer Jacob Grant. A wide range of emotions were displayed from tears to laughs as the couple’s friend Daron Hope led them through their vows, the sharing of rings, and finally their first kiss as husband and wife.
Along with their casual boho aesthetic, the couple’s second stipulation for their wedding was for the reception to be filled with good food, good drinks, and plenty of dancing. Wine was in abundance as well as fresh lemonade to beat the summer heat. And, for the more adventurous, multiple flavors of moonshine were available to take shots. Craft Wood Fired Catering took care of the meal portion of the wedding, which was served buffet-style. Plenty of games were also played from ping-pong to bocce ball before all settled in. Loving toasts were given as the sun started to go down, and string lights turned on just in time for the dancing.
