Elings Park made for a beautiful wedding setting in Santa Barbara for this bride and groom's big day. Wedding planner and designer Burlap & Bordeaux made sure to work with the natural beauty of the outdoor wedding venue to make this day everything this couple had wanted and more. From the lush, soft pink wedding flowers to the wedding decor including gold accents on the reception tables to the event lighting professionally constructed by Santa Barbara’s SPARK Creative Events, everything came together perfectly.

The bridesmaids all wore different knee-length bridesmaid dresses in a soft shade of pink while the groomsmen wore classic navy suits with a boutonniere on their lapel. After the ceremony under a gorgeous wedding arch with white draping, an enjoyable dinner followed, catered by the expert Santa Barbara wedding caterers at Lorraine Lim Catering. Event and wedding DJ, DJ Zeke, provided music throughout the event and was especially key to getting everyone off their feet and on to the wedding dance floor at the end of the night. A dessert table including a heavenly wedding cake accompanied by a selection of small bundt cakes topped off the evening. All was beautifully photographed by Santa Barbara wedding photographer Josh Newton.

From the bride:

Dave and I met at Santa Clara University, he was in law school and I was in undergrad. I worked at a yogurt shop around campus and he used to always come in. He had written a Craigslist Missed Connections ad about me and unbeknownst to him, his sister sent the link for the ad to the office where I worked. I was beyond flattered and we exchanged emails back and forth for a while, the timing wasn't quite right, I had someone else in my life, but a few years later we finally got together at the end of my senior year and just as he was finishing law school. That was in March 2010 and we've been together ever since.

We live in the bay area and when we decided to have the wedding in Santa Barbara I knew I was going to need some extra help with the planning. I have never been one for design or making things look beautiful so when I saw Burlap and Bordeaux and realized she could do the full package of designing and planning/coordinating for our wedding I reached out to Brooke right away and we got started.

His proposal was a complete surprise! I was in Santa Barbara with my family for Thanksgiving and he had just picked up the ring from the jeweler. He said the minute he got it he couldn't wait to give it to me, so he and his family drove down to Santa Barbara Friday night and on the way he coordinated with my family to do a beach walk on Saturday. I looked up as we're walking along the ocean and I see him and his parents and sister walking towards us as me and my entire family is walking towards them. He proposed to me on the beach in front of our families and we had a brunch celebration right after. It was completely unexpected and so wonderful to have both our families there.

Brooke handled everything and it was beyond what I could have ever imagined. She gave us image ideas and I really felt like she listed to what we liked and didn't like. She made the process really simple for us and kept us on schedule and on track for what needed to get done so we didn't feel overwhelmed. She gave great recommendations and she took over pieces we didn't have much preference on, and then let us handle the things we felt like we wanted to be more involved in. Brooke was a huge help. She did all the signs and last minute things that I would have been going nuts over.

When Dave and I walked into the wedding venue and finally saw everything come together it was such a special moment and I can't thank Brooke enough for that. I didn't feel like we had to think about any of the logistics or design stuff or worry about how it was going to look. It was spectacular and she did such an amazing job taking care of all of the design and planning.

And the penguin? It's an inside joke with our friend group, he's been named Mr. Guin and randomly we'll bring him out at parties, and our friend Brett Smith who married us brings him wherever he travels and takes random photos of him. Somehow he snuck into the wedding so we couldn't resist a few pics!
