At Santa Barbara Wedding, I love using this space to highlight creative inspiration from the talented pros in our community — and this shoot by Elizabeth Victoria Photography is full of thoughtful, on-trend details worth bookmarking.

While this particular shoot didn’t take place in Santa Barbara, what stood out to me were the intentional design choices that speak to where weddings are going — and how couples can tell their story in fresh, deeply personal ways. Here are a few of my favorite takeaways:

I recently attended a fabulous PartySlate industry event where “floral attire” was the dress code, and it was such a joy to see guests (yes, men too!) show up in garden-party prints and blooming silhouettes. This shoot captures that energy with subtle floral details that feel fresh, fun, and totally now.

2. Caterpillar Tables: Where Form Meets Function

One of the most clever design elements in this shoot? The table setup. Known as “caterpillar tables,” this layout blends visual interest with guest-friendly flow. It’s a great way to create intimacy while still feeling modern and open — perfect for couples who want something a little different without sacrificing function.

Back when I first started my career as a catering manager at Bacara, the only real “upgrade” chair option was the classic Chivari. These days, Santa Barbara rental companies offer so many beautiful chair styles that are just as comfortable as they are photo-worthy. Food that matches the mood? Yes, please. I loved how the catering in this shoot incorporated the color palette in creative, delicious ways. From vibrant garnishes to pastel-hued cocktails, it’s a reminder that food can be a design element too — and a fun way to tie everything together.
